You know we had to have at least one Brain Trust teacher representing the true city of adventure, Las Vegas! And Elizabeth Whitehead represents the spirit of Las Vegas adventure in a way we can all get behind: with a passion for physical education and a very successful career devoted to helping her community raise healthy and happy kids.Elizabeth is currently a K-12 Health and Physical Education Teacher for Clark County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, NV, which also happens to be one of the top active districts in Fit Nation! And we can thank Elizabeth for much of the program’s rapid success there, where she also serves as the Wellness Project Facilitator for the CCSD Curriculum and Professional Development Division.Elizabeth knows that total wellness arises out of respect for both the body and mind. She received her B.S. in K-12 Health and Physical Education from the University of Delaware before going on to receive a Master’s of Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education, from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.Elizabeth is also an active member of the kids’ health national community. In her spare time she devotes herself to working with the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) as well as the Nevada Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NAHPERD), standing side-by-side with the nation’s finest minds to push wellness education forward. And if all that doesn’t already equate to a triumphant image of health’s poster child, Ms. Verdi-Whitehead also enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and just breaking a good sweat at the gym. We bet she could teach us all a thing or two about staying fit, eating right, and being happy!
Mary Foltz Weikle is our girl on the ground in Appalachia! As part of our Elite Brain Trust Team of educational advisors, she’s helping us continue to develop Adventure to Fitness resources with an emphasis on the needs she hears about from teachers, both in her state of West Virginia and across the nation. She is currently the Coordinator for Health & Physical Education, WV Department of Education, Office of Healthy Schools. But Mary is far from your average administrator. Much like Mr. Marc on his travels across the globe, she’s had an adventure of her own – one that has led her on a highly successful and meaningful career in teaching. Prior to her current position in the DOE, Mary was a teacher for twenty-seven years in public education and 17 years as an adjunct professor at Fairmont State University. She received a BA in Health and Physical Education from Fairmont State University and an MA in Specific Learning Disabilities from West Virginia University. Mary was part of a team that developed the Health and Physical Education Leadership Academy Professional Development model for West Virginia's health and physical education teachers. And if you thought that was it, you’ve got another thing coming! Mary’s not big on that old chestnut called "spare time." When she’s not heading up the WV Dept. of Education, she leads the development of Let’s Move! WV Active Schools Campaign, modeled after the First Lady’s national "Let’s Move!" initiative. She contributed to the West Virginia Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition publication "Let’s Party," creating physical activities for thematic "healthy school" parties.

Michael has a bold vision for Adventure to Fitness: to become the leading health and fitness brand for children. Upon joining the company in 2010 Michael generated plans to launch Adventure to Fitness in schools and helped the program achieve rapid growth, reaching schools in all 50 states by its second year. Michael brings a tireless work ethic and is not afraid of challenges. His career experience – which crosses the technology, financial, and media sectors – provides knowledge and a list of contacts that makes overcoming these challenges possible.
Prior to Adventure to Fitness, Michael ran Rhattigan Broadcasting, a broadcasting business that he founded in 2004.
Despite tough economic conditions, Michael was able to consistently deliver double-digit growth. Michael began his career at the worldwide headquarters of Andersen Consulting in Chicago. He eventually moved to France with Andersen, where he helped establish and build a technology practice that covered Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. Throughout the 1990’s, the group grew from a handful to several hundred employees. Michael worked with companies that ranged from startups to Fortune 50 corporations to implement leading-edge technologies and business strategies. He later worked as a research analyst for JPMorgan Chase, where he focused on the media and telecom sector.
Michael has an undergraduate degree in information systems from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in financefrom MIT’s Sloan School of Management. His versatile educational and career backgrounds make him an ideal leader for Adventure to Fitness as it approaches its ambitious goals.
Michael is committed to health and fitness on a personal level, too. While Michael reluctantly admits that it’s normally his wife who drags him to the gym each morning at 5:30am, the Adventure to Fitness team frequently sees Michael biking to and from work. He’s also a world traveler like Mr. Marc, having lived on four separate continents, including stays in Argentina, Canada, England, France, South Africa, and the United States. Michael can occasionally be overheard comparing adventure stories with Mr. Marc: such as running with the bulls in Pamplona, or swimming with Piranhas in the Amazon. He claims the latter was an accident but the Adventure to Fitness team isn’t completely convinced.
